Japan has urged the United Nations Security Council, UNSC, to issue a strong message to North Korea. The Security Council met for an emergency meeting on Wednesday following Pyongyang’s firing of two ballistic missiles earlier that day.
One of the missiles fell inside Japan’s exclusive economic zone in the Sea of Japan. Japan, the United States and South Korea have called for a stern response.
Speaking to reporters today, Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida Kishida said, Japan will continue persuading UNSC members to adopt a new statement condemning North Korea.
