Amid growing global concerns over the safety of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenals, India has said, the battlefield atomic weapons of its neighbour were at the heart of such apprehensions. During a media briefing Thursday, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, the international concerns about Pakistan’s present nuclear policy are mainly linked to its tactical nuclear weapons.
He was replying to a question on former Pakistan Ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani’s comment that Pakistan’s policy on tactical nuke weapons continue. During a recent interview to a private news channel, Haqqani had also said, the prospect of tactical nuclear weapons means that Colonels and Brigadiers in the field would control their use.
When asked about the whereabouts of under world don Dawood Ibrahim, Mr Swarup said, he is a fugitive and Pakistan should handover him to India.
Replying to another media query, Mr Swarup rubbished reports that there is aid cut to Nepal. He said nearly four hundred crore rupees annually are being given to the Himalyan nation.
