The United Nations will observe the birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar for the first time on April 13. India’s Permanent Mission to UN will commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar at the UN headquarters in New York, a day before his birthanniversary that is 14th April.

India’s Permanent Representative to UN, Syed Akbaruddin said in a tweet that the focus on the occasion would be on combating inequalities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

A note circulated by the Indian Mission said, Babasaheb remains an inspiration for millions of Indians and proponents of equality and social justice across the globe. It said, one can see the trace of Babasaheb’s radiant vision in the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by UN to eliminate poverty, hunger and socio-economic inequality by 2030. and Puducherry will begin on the 22nd of this month.
