Nuclear weapons pose existential threat to humanity: UN Chief

UN chief Ban Ki-moon has said that nuclear weapons pose an existential threat to humanity. He said this yesterday in an informal briefing to the UN General Assembly. The Secretary General said the nuclear weapon test by North Korea was a destabilising act that violates Security Council resolutions and imperils collective security. He added that the test underscores the specific dangers of North Korea which faces severe developmental and human rights challenges.
