External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said that the five Indian sailors who were abducted in Nigeria are safe. In a tweet, Ms Swaraj said, the High Commissioner in Nigeria AR Ghanshyam met President of Nigeria in this regard on 12th of this month and he is making all efforts to secure their release. She said, the contact with pirates has been established.

Thursday, External Affairs Ministry had sought a report from its High Commission in Nigeria over the abduction of the Indian sailors. Reports say locals in Nigeria on 11th of this month kidnapped an oil tanker with five crewmembers. They had set sail on an oil tanker MT-Ananta from the Mumbai port on 24th October.
