Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib, yesterday, and offered prayers for peace and harmony in the state. He also visited Sri Akal Takht Sahib and paid reverence at the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs.
Later in the evening, he addressed the state on All India Radio and appealed to the people to maintain peace and communal harmony in the state and be vigilant at all the religious places. In his address, which was carried on Regional, FM Rainbow and DTH channels of the National broadcaster from its Jalandhar station, Mr. Badal said the desecration of the holy book has hurt the feelings of all those who believe in Guru Granth Sahib Ji in India and abroad. It has been carried out in a sequence under a deep rooted conspiracy to once again push Punjab in the fire.
He said the alliance government and Punjabis will not allow this to happen. Mr. Badal assured strict action agasint those responsible for this act.
Mr. Badal, while interacting with media in Amritsar, said that some forces inimical to the progress of the state are trying their best to disturb the hard earned peace. They would not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs.
Meanwhile, protests continued at various places in the state against the desecration of the holy book causing inconvenience to the public.
