Manipur Legislative Assembly has unanimously passed the Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015. The House also unanimously passed two amendment bills- the Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2015 and the Manipur Shops and Establishments (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015 today.

The three Bills were introduced in the House on Friday last to protect indigenous people.

As soon as the House met today, State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh moved for consideration and passing the Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015 while the two other bills were moved by Revenue Minister Thoudam Debendra and Labour Minister Irengbam Hemochandra respectively.

Later, the House unanimously passed all the three Bills.

The House also passed a resolution welcoming the Peace Accord signed between the Centre and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN)-IM.

The resolution was moved by Chief Minister Ibobi Singh. While moving the resolution the Chief Minister said, Manipur is a mini India and the fresh initiative of the Centre and the NSCN (IM) to bring peace in the north eastern India is welcomed by all.

He further said that the state government requested the Centre about the details of the Accord to remove the apprehension of the people of the state to which the Centre has replied that it is only a framework.
