The Madras High Court has ordered issue of notice to the Tamil Nadu Government on a petition against the appointment of the state Chief Information Commissioner and two Information Commissioners. A DMK advocate in his petition has contended that the due process of consulting the opposition leader has not been followed in the appointment.
The court directed the state government to file its reply within eight weeks. The retired police chief Mr Ramanujam was earlier appointed as the CIC and the retired judge Mr Dakshinamurthy and an advocate Mr Murugan were nominated as the commissioners in the panel.
