The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a case to investigate last month’s mid-air cockpit attack on Captain Smit Machchhar aboard a flydubai flight. The case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Anti-Hijacking Act, 2016, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
Captain Machchhar, who hails from Gujarat, was stabbed and seriously injured by his co-pilot in the cockpit of flydubai flight while travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv on 30th of last month. The flight was carrying 174 passengers, including 27 children. Several leaders across the world praised the bravery of Captain Machchhar who saved the lives of passengers despite being injured.
