At least six civilians have been killed and 53 others wounded in Russian attacks across several Ukrainian cities as fighting continues on the front lines. Ukrainian officials said three people were killed and eight wounded in the Kyiv region, while another three people were killed in a drone strike on an office building in Dnipro. In Kharkiv, a strike on a residential building wounded 38 people, including 10 children.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has continued long-range drone attacks on targets inside Russia. Russian authorities said their air defences shot down 254 Ukrainian drones overnight, while fires were reported at three infrastructure facilities in the Krasnodar region.
The attacks come after a week of diplomatic efforts at the United Nations aimed at advancing negotiations to end Russia-Ukraine war.
In the latest battlefield developments, Ukraine’s Third Army Corps said its forces had recaptured another 51 square kilometres of territory in the Donetsk region, bringing the total area it claims to have retaken to 176 square kilometres since launching its recent offensive.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had captured two villages – Novovodiane in Donetsk and Ulanove in the Sumy region.
The latest escalation comes as prospects for a quick diplomatic breakthrough remain uncertain.
