Narendra_ModiSeveral political parties have echoed BJP patriarch L K Advani’s statement that Emergeny can happen again in India as the political leadership has some shortcomings. Congress said it was not alone which questioned the Narendra Modi led government at the Centre, but even senior BJP leadership is raising questions on the efficacy of the government.

Vadakkan said a Prime Minister who promised to bring back black money stashed abroad is now being found shielding persons who hold black money. He expressed surprise that Narendra Modi had no knowledge that Lalit Modi, a fugitive, is being protected extra constitutionally under his nose. He said Prime Minister’s silence is deafening and he needs to explain his stand to the country.
JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said Mr Advani is the senior most leader of the country and if such a senior leader has raised concerns, it is a serious matter.

Aam Aadmi Party convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Mr Advani has correctly said that emergency cannot be ruled out. In a tweet, he asked if Delhi is the first experiment towards this end.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani had said in an interview to an English daily that he cannot say political leadership is not mature, but he is not convinced due to shortcomings. He said there are no signs in Indian polity which assure him that Emergency can not be imposed in India again.

However, BJP spokesperson M J Akbar said Mr Advani may have been referring to institutions rather than individuals. He said he does not think there is any chance of emergency like situation.
