The ex-Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar arrested in Fake degree case has been brought to Faizabad by Delhi police today. Police team brought Jintendra Singh Tomar to Faizabad via Lucknow by train. Mr. Tomar was arrested yesterday and is now in Delhi police’s custody for four days. Mr Tomar was taken to office of controller of examination for further investigation. Senior officials of university are cooperating in investigations.
Meanwhile, Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University Vice-Chancellor Dr G.N.R Jaiswal said that the Controller of Examination is the competent authority for cross-checking of award of degrees. Mr. Tomar had claimed that he had B Sc degree from Awadh University Faizabad and a law degree from Bhagalpur University. Though Awadh University has already sent its report to Delhi that degree mentioned in Mr. Tomar’s documents has been found fake. Mr. Tomar reiterated that his degrees are genuine and it is a conspiracy against him by the centre.
Mr. Vijender Gupta, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Vidhan Sabha justified the Delhi Police action against the Law & Justice Minister, Jitender Singh Tomar. He demanded that the Chief Minister must immediately dismiss him for his involvement in criminal act of using fake degrees. He said that it is strange that the Chief Minister who claims to be fighting against corruption has all along been shielding a Minister involved in corrupt practices. He added that due to dubious activities, the Kejriwal Government has lost faith of Delhiites and its downfall has begun.
Leader of Opposition expressed confidence that the Delhi Police will present complete and undisputable evidence before the Court. Delhi Police action has strengthened the faith of citizens in the Law & Order System in the Capital.
Mr. Gupta said that the action should have been initiated against the Law Minister much before. BJP Legislative Party has been demanding action against him from the very beginning. But it appears that Police did in-depth investigation and its action in all possibilities is based on undisputable evidence.
