AIADMK supremo Ms. Jayalaithaa will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the fifth time tomorrow. A Raj bhavan release said that the Swearing in ceremony will be held in the Madras University Centenary Hall at 11 AM.
Along with Ms Jayalalithaa, 28 ministers will be taking the oath. All the incumbent ministers, except Mr. M.S.M. Anandan and Mr. SenthurPandiyan are retained in the new cabinet.
Earlier, Ms Jayalalithaa met the Governor and handed over the list of ministers along with the portfolios.
She also garlanded the statues of Dravidian Icons Anna, Periyar, and the party founder MGR.
Since this was her first public appearance after a gap of six months, thousands of party cadres lined up on both sides of the road and greeted their leader, creating a festive mood.
Ms Jayalalithaa is likely to seek re-election from RK Nagar constituency in Chennai which was left vacant recently following the resignation of AIADMK member Mr Vetrivel.
Decks were cleared for Ms Jalalithaa’s return after the Karnataka High court acquitted her in the 19-year old Disproportionate Assets case recently.
Ms Jayalalithaa was forced to step down as the Chief Minister in September 2014 after a trial court convicted and sentenced her to four years in jail in the case, which led to her automatic disqualification as MLA and exit as CM.
