Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has launched a nationwide ten-day initiative aimed at addressing the growing social disconnect and reviving neglected neighbourly responsibilities across the country. The campaign, titled “Campaign for the Rights of Neighbours” and themed “Ideal Neighbourhood, Ideal Society,” will run from 21–30 November 2025, focusing on rebuilding community bonds and promoting harmonious living.

In his address to the media, JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini explained that Islam places profound emphasis on the rights of neighbours, including not only those who live nearby but also “temporary neighbours” such as colleagues, fellow travellers, and daily companions. He said the campaign aims to remind Muslims of these teachings and inspire them to embody compassion, kindness, and justice in their neighbourhoods, thereby presenting the true spirit of Islam.

Syed Sadatullah added that communities rooted in mutual respect and goodwill naturally evolve into ideal societies. Strengthening neighbourly relations, he said, helps reduce conflicts, builds trust, and positively influences entire localities.

National Convenor Mohammed Ahmed noted that rising individualism in urban areas has weakened interpersonal bonds, making it necessary to revive traditional values of mutual care. The campaign will promote cooperation, cleanliness, traffic discipline, and social responsibility as integral elements of Islamic ethics.

Activities during the campaign will include interfaith neighbour-meetings, tea gatherings, women and youth programmes, cleanliness drives, road-right awareness rallies, cultural competitions, “Know Your Neighbour” events, and the creation of local committees to ensure continued engagement even after the campaign concludes.
