The woman who was illegally residing at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), popularly known as IAS training academy in Mussoorie for six month using fake identity as an IAS officer today accused the academy’s Deputy Director of taking bribe from her to give her employment in the academy.
Ms.Ruby Choudhary appeared before the media two days after an FIR was filed against her for illegally residing at the IAS training academy
On March 31, Satyavir Singh, Administrative Officer (Security) at LBSNAA, filed an FIR at the Mussoorie police station regarding the illegal stay of Ms. Choudhary at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA).
Ms. Choudhary said she appeared in front of the media to clarify her position in the case. In her clarification she mentioned hat she was no threat to the security of the academy and was there to get herself a job at the library, which, she said was promised to her by the Deputy Director at LABSNAA Saurabh Jain.
“I entered the LABSNAA campus on September 29 [last year] and visited the campus frequently to check the status of her job application,” she said.
At LBSNAA campus Ms. Choudhary stayed at one Dev Singh’s residence, who is a security guard at the academy.
“I paid Dev Singh Rs 1,500 a month as rent for the room where I had kept my belongings temporarily. I stayed in that room whenever I visited the academy,” she said.
Ms. Choudhary claimed that she first met Mr. Jain few months back at a function at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. “Saurabh Jain informed about a soon-to-be-vacant post at the library at LBSNAA and asked for a bribe of Rs 20 lakh. I have already paid him Rs 5 lakh,” Ms. Choudhary claimed.
Ms. Choudhary also claimed that she was provided a fake identity card of Administrative Training Institute (ATI) Nainital by Mr. Jain, which mentions that she was a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM).
“I am not an SDM. Saurabh Jain gave me the fake identity card. When I questioned the authenticity of the identity card, he asked me to keep the card and to stop questioning,” she told the media.
Ms. Choudhary said that after March 18, this year, the issue of her fake identity has started surfacing. On March 27, the
room where she stayed was sealed. However, the FIR against her was registered on March 31. “If no one in the academy
was involved in this case then how come I was allowed to leave the campus on March 27 and the FIR against me was filed four days later?” she said.
Ms. Choudhary said that after the FIR was registered Mr. Jain offered her Rs 5 crore to stop her from naming him. “Saurabh Jain said that he would collect Rs 5 crore and give it to me so that I remain quiet and refrain from taking his name.”
“I am ready to accept my mistake. I paid a bribe. But, I am not the only culprit. I want an impartial enquiry into the case and everyone involved in this corruption case must be punished,” she said.
A press note issued by LABSNAA Joint Director D. Nariala stated: “The security guard, Mr. Dev Singh has been placed under suspension and departmental enquiry has been initiated against him for subletting government quarter.” The press note further stated that a committee has been set up to enquire into the matter.
