India has expressed deep shock at the verdict of the death penalty in the case involving eight Indian employees of Al Dahra company. External Affairs Ministry said in a statement that there is initial information that the Court of First Instance of Qatar has passed the judgement today and the detailed judgement is being awaited. The ministry is in touch with the family members and the legal team, and all legal options are being explored.
External Affairs Ministry said, it attaches high importance to this case and has been following it closely. The Ministry will continue to extend all consular and legal assistance and will also take up the verdict with Qatari authorities.
The eight Indian nationals were detained on 30th August in Qatar last year.
