Yoga organisations in Bangladesh are preparing for the 9th International Yoga Day (IYD) event on 21st June with great enthusiasm all across the country. Yoga related events are being organised in the capital city Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh in the run up to the International Yoga Day 2023. The High Commission of India is actively promoting several programmes being organised in connection with the International Yoga Day 2023.

On Friday, Yoga organisations of Dhaka with support from the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) of High Commision of India held three events in Dhaka with hundreds of enthusiasts taking part in Yoga related exercises, breathing activity and meditation. Early in the morning, a pre-IYD event was organised in collaboration with Bangladesh Yoga Sangha and ITEC Yoga Alumni Association of Bangladesh. Another event was held in collaboration with Bangladesh Yoga Association at Bangladesh National Stadium in Paltan area.

In the evening the IGCC in collaboration with Joysan Yoga held an event in Banani area of Dhaka where certificates were given away to 130 Yoga Teachers for completing the 6-month International Certificate Course for Yoga conducted by the Joysan Yoga led by Kushal Roy Joy. Another group of students was awarded certificates for completing the Ayurveda course. 

Earlier, this week, the Harmony Trust, dedicated to the promotion of Yoga and holistic health, conducted programmes in Sylhet with Senior Managers of a reputed local NGO. It was followed by another event at  Cox’s Bazar with Rohingya refugees on Wednesday. Harmony Trust has planned many other activities over the next few days with people from marginalised sections of society, women and NGOs in the run up to IYD 2023.

Art of Living Bangladesh is also  organising events relating to Yoga and meditation in different parts of Dhaka ahead of the IYD 2023.
The High Commission of India has planned to organise the main event on 21st June in Dhaka with the participation of several thousand Yoga enthusiasts mobilised through the support of Yoga organisations working in Bangladesh.
