The 20th Shala Praveshotsav of Gujarat will begin from 12 th to 14th of June. It will focus on enrolment in schools across border villages. This decision was taken in line with Prime Minister’s vision to strengthen educational and infrastructural facilities across the country with a focus on border villages. This initiative began when Prime Minister Narendra Modi served as a Chief Minister in 2003 with a motto that “No child of Gujarat shall be deprived of going to school.”

As per the recommendations of the National Education Policy, for the first time, children between the ages of 6 and those nearing the completion of 6 years will be admitted to primary schools during ‘Shala Praveshotsav’. Children who have completed 6 years will be admitted to Grade 1, regardless of their academic credentials.

Shala Praveshotsav is a school enrolment program organized by the Education Department of Gujarat for the last two decades. This year, the 3-day Shala Praveshotsav will be held in schools of border villages of Kutch, Bhavnagar, and Narmada from 12th to 14th June 2023.

Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel, In a meeting held in Gandhinagar with chief secretary and secretaries of state departments, stressed on the importance of Shala Praveshotsav in realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ with a focus on empowering villages across the country and promoting primary education, especially in border villages.
