Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy today inaugurated a Mega Health Festival organised jointly by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Puducherry Health and Family Welfare Services Department.

The Mela is being organised at the spacious Old Port near Puducherry Rock Beach. Super-specialty medical consultation to the common public would be given free of cost. The Mela would be open till 1st of May, it will also provide insight into healthy food habits. Traditional Food Mela is also being conducted in the venue.

Speaking on the occasion, the Lt. Governor said that the Mela shows the aim of Central Government and its efforts towards a healthy India. She requested the people of Puducherry to make use of the opportunity.

Lauding the efforts of the Central Government in conducting such Melas in the Union Territory, Chief Minister Rangasamy said that various welfare activities have been organised with the help of Central Government. He also appreciated the Health Department’s role in providing health facilities and Health Education.

The Mela will also motivate young students who wish to pursue their career in medicine, he said and exhorted the doctors to serve rural populace.
