Karnataka Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K Sudhakar has said that there is no need to panic about the two Delta Plus variant cases found in the state. Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru today, he said that in the one case found in Bengaluru, the patient has mild symptoms and another in Mysuru is completely recovered.

He made it clear that there is no severity in both these cases and the primary contacts have tested negative for Covid. He informed that there is some difference in treatment protocol for Delta and Delta plus variants.

The state, he added, will have six new genome sequencing labs to detect new strains as the virus evolves.
The minister said that neighbouring state of Kerala has a positivity rate of over 10 percent and same is the case in Maharashtra and hence more tests will be conducted in the border districts of the state.
