The first of the three-phase Panchayati Raj Institution elections is underway in Himachal Pradesh today.
Polling is being held for 1,227 panchayats from 8 am to 4 pm. The remaining two phases are slated to be held on January 19 and January 21.
It may be recalled that the State is having 3615 gram panchayats of which polling will be held for 3583 panchayats except 32 keylong in Lahaul Spiti district.
