Union Minister for Environment and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar has said that the National Democratic Alliance Government is ready to give freedom to the industries if responsible care is exercised by them. He was delivering the inaugural address at ICC Sustainable Conclave, 2019 on Chemical Industry in India – Environmentally Sound Management in New Delhi today.

The Minister expressed happiness that this time, there was a drop of over 70 per cent in firecracker use during Diwali. He cited this as an example of responsible care and self-regulation and especially complimented the children for spearheading this initiative.

Mr Javadekar asked those gathered in the Conclave and all the stakeholders to create an end to end system which is sustainable. He also spoke about water efficiency and stressed on preservation and conservation of water. He said Indian lifestyle is very environmentally sensitive and pro-environment but this aspect is not seen in business practice.

Speaking on the sidelines of the function on deteriorating Air Quality Index in Delhi, Mr Javadekar said a responsible behaviour should be adopted by the people.
