STAFF REPORTER / NEW DELHI

New Delhi today said that it was expecting full consular access to be granted to its national Kulbhushan Jadhav by Pakistan. Mr Jadhav is in Pakistan’s custody over alleged espionage charges against him.

Replying to a media query, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, India is in touch with Pakistani authorities in this regard.

Last week, the Hague-based International Court of Justice had stayed death sentence awarded to Kulbushan Jadhav by a Pakistani military court and directed Islamabad to provide consular access to him.

On Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan acknowledging presence of terror training camps in his country, the spokesperson said, it is time for Islamabad to take credible action against the terror camps that exist in the areas under the control of Pakistan.

Asked about US President’s alleged remarks on Kashmir issue, Mr Kumar said, India’s position has already been explained on the matter.

It has been India’s consistent position that all outstanding issues with Pakistan are discussed only bilaterally. The spokesperson said, India and US have good strategic and defence ties.
