PM condoles the passing away of Maulana Asrarul Haque

Noted Islamic scholar and Congress Lok Sabha MP from Bihar’s Kishanganj constituency, Maulana Asrar-ul-Haque Qasmi  passed away early on Friday morning following a heart attack. He was 76.

Expressing grief over his demise, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said Qasmi had played a vital role in the social sector.

The state government has announced his funeral will take place with state honour.

Qasmi won the Kishanganj seat in 2009 general elections by contesting on an Indian National Congress ticket after five consecutive failures.

He retained his constituency in the 2014 general elections by defeating BJP’s Dilip Kumar Jaiswal.

He was a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and also a founder member of the All India Milli Council.

PM condoles the passing away of Asrarul Haque

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has condoled the passing away of Shri Mohammad Asrarul Haque.

“Saddened by the passing away of Shri Mohammad Asrarul Haque, the Lok Sabha MP from Kishanganj in Bihar. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of grief”, the Prime Minister said.
