Heavy rains lashed several parts of Maharashtra including the capital Mumbai. Mumbai city with eastern and western suburbs are experiencing medium to heavy rainfall from today morning.
Earlier, it was mostly drizzling in several areas since morning. Dadar, Parel, Kurla, Bandra, Andheri, Dahisar, Matunga and Malad are experiencing heavy rainfall. Till noon, Mumbai city received 20 mm rainfall, eastern suburbs got 15 mm rainfall while western suburbs 26 mm rains.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast “heavy to very heavy” rains in Maharashtra, especially in coastal Konkan region, for 5 days starting from today. The administration has released helpline number 1077 for people outside Mumbai- and those in Mumbai can dial 1916 in case of emergency.
The Government has directed control rooms in Mantralaya, divisional commissioner’s office, district collectors’ offices, municipal corporations and tehsildar offices have been directed to work round-the-clock. For Mumbai city and suburbs, three teams of NDRF have been pre-positioned at CIDM, Parel; Mankhurd Fire Station and Andheri Sports Complex.
