In national capital Delhi, people experienced mist in the morning with air quality index remaining in severe zone. According to CPCB data the average level of PM 10 was recorded at 474 while PM 2.5 was at 477.

According to the MeT department, the visibility remained at 300 metres at 5.30 AM and 400 metres at 8.30 this morning. MeT department said there will be a partly cloudy SKY sky during the day, which may clear the prevailing smog condition in National capital region.

The rail, road and air traffic was affected due to mist. At the Indira Gandhi Airport, operations about more than 50 flights were affected. According to the Northern Railways, 34 Delhi bound trains are reported to be running late. 21 trains have been rescheduled while 8 was cancelled.

Pollution levels continued to remain high across Uttar Pradesh, especially cities close to Delhi-NCR, although the smog showed signs of receding in most regions today. People felt a bit relieved this morning in many parts of state. In Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi, AQI levels were between 300 to 400 while it reached close to 500 in cities like Ghaziabad, Noida and Agra.

Many industries including sugar mills are ordered to remain closed till 14 November by the administration. State government has warned farmers to refrain from burning remains of crops in fields and proposed penalty if they are found doing so. Smog has disrupted rail and road traffic also. Many trains are running late by many hours.

Meteorological Department has predicted significant improvement in air quality next week, besides rainfall due to a western disturbance in northwest India.People felt a bit relieved today morning in many parts of state.
