At least four people were killed and 14 injured when an explosion rocked Bagram Airfield this morning, the largest U.S. military base in Afghanistan and located next to the ancient city of Bagram, more than 30 miles north of Kabu.
Taliban has claimed responsibility for the blast. Waheed Sediqi, spokesman for the governor of Parwan province where Bagram is located, said the blast was caused by a suicide attacker who blew himself up near a dining facility inside the base.
The identity of victims is not affirmed yet, but the attacker was either one of the Afghan labourers working there, Sediqi told MEDIA.
The explosion underscores a worsening security situation nearly two years after NATO formally ended its combat operations in Afghanistan.
