Two police personnel were killed after suspected militants attacked police patrol party in summer capital Srinagar today. An official in Police Control Room (PCR) Srinagar told media that unidentified militants opened fire on police patrol party near Govt Spinning Mill bus stop in old city area of Srinagar around 1045 hrs.
The slain police personnel were identified as Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Ghulam Mohammad Bhat (of Lolab Kupwara in north Kashmir) and Head Constable (HC) Nazir Ahmad Mir (of Handwara tehsil in Kupwara district). The official said, the security forces have launched manhunt to nab the attackers. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
