In Kerala, the incessant rains have receded a bit bringing relief. Although the rains have subsided, Kuttanad is badly hit as many areas are under water. Authorities visited the flood-hit areas of Kuttanad yesterday and took stock of the situation. Met department has predicted low intensity of rain in the state today. Yellow alert is issued in eight districts for today. People have been warned to be extra vigilant as heavy rains are expected at the hilly areas. Meanwhile, the water level in the Mullaperiyar Dam rose again to 140.50 feet. The spillway shutters of the dam are likely to be raised if the water level rises again.
