The White House has defended US President Donald Trump’s decision to fire FBI chief James Comey. White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary, Sarah Sanders told reporters at a news conference that the President had lost confidence in Comey and had been considering to expel him since day one.

It said, Comey’s firing was motivated solely by concerns over his handling of the high-stakes probe into Hillary Clinton’s emails. President Trump yesterday fired FBI chief James Comey, abruptly removing the top sleuth overseeing a criminal probe into whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Meanwhile, a US Senate panel investigating Russian interference in Presidential election has issued a rare formal demand for documents from President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn. Mr. Flynn was forced to resign in February after failing to disclose the content of his talks with Russian diplomats.
