United States and Bangladesh have agreed to strengthen cooperation in counter terrorism and combating violent extremism through capacity enhancement, reports BSS.

The agreement came during two-day 5th Partnership Dialogue between Bangladesh and the United States that began at the US Department of State in Washington, DC, on Thursday.

Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque is leading the Bangladesh side in the dialogue, while US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon is heading the US delegation.

 

The two sides underscored the need for continued and wider cooperation in existing and new areas.

The US delegation praised the Bangladesh government for hosting a large number of undocumented Myanmar nationals in Bangladesh for decades.
