US Secretary of State John Kerry telephoned the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Shariff to take stern and prompt action against perpetrators of Pathankot airbase attack.

Kerry’s call to Sharif came amid Indian intelligence reports suggesting that groups and people in Pakistan planned and executed the strike on the Pathankot airbase.

Nawaz Sharif assured US Secretary of taking swift action into the attack. Earlier, a senior State Department official said in Washington that the US feels that time has come for Pakistan to walk the talk on the promises it made, both in public and in private conversations, that there would be no discrimination in its action against terrorist networks and bring the perpetrators of the Pathankot attack to justice.

He said Pakistan should not come out with lame excuses to shield them as has been the case with the Mumbai terrorist attack of November 26, 2008.
