UAE national day

The Embassy of the UAE in New Delhi on Saturday (December 01) celebrated its 47th National Day with traditional fanfare. Prominent figures from different walks of life, including, members of the diplomatic corps in New Delhi, academics, members of the media, businessmen and Indian government officials attended the ceremony.

The Chief Guest of the Ceremony was Mr. Vijay Goel, Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Govt. of India. In his National Day Address, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to India, Dr. Ahmed Albanna, spoke about the themes that are at the core of the UAE’s national strategy from year to year. He also highlighted the UAE’s growth and development including economic and social achievements.

On UAE’s diplomacy, the Ambassador said that, bilateral relationship with another country is based on the principles of cooperation and mutual respect. He said that UAE adopts a policy of Non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs and Respect for the principles and charters of the United Nations and the international community. “ These efforts have contributed to strengthening the UAE’s standing and strengthened ties with friendly countries in the Gulf region, in the Arab region and around the world”, he said.

On relationship with India the Ambassador said that, the two countries have established strong partnerships in the field of commerce and trade. This partnership is expanding, diversifying and emerging into a strategic partnership with emphasis on cooperation in defence, energy, etc.

Going beyond this, the Indian community of over 2.7 million is a major part of UAE’s vibrant society and its economic success. It also makes a significant economic contribution to India and constitutes an indelible human bond of friendship between the two nations. He expressed hope that, bilateral engagements between UAE and India will strengthen and intensify further in times to come due to shared values and interests of both the nations.

While pointing out that the year 2018 marked as the year of Sheikh Zayed, the founding father of the UAE, he said that Sheikh Zayed’s wisdom and vision leading the UAE on the path towards a prosperous future.

He also highlighted UAE ‘s space programme with mentioning about the launch of the UAE satellite KhalifaSat, the first full-scale UAE-made satellite, designed and built by Emirati engineers.
