Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy on Sunday paid tributes to former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionaries who were kidnapped and killed by extremists and said he will ask the new BJP-led government to find the “remains” of those eliminated.
He mentioned senior RSS functionaries like Shyamalkanti Sengupta, Sudhamoy Dutt, Dinendra Dey and Shubhankar Chakrabarty.
“Remembering the four Swayamsevaks kidnapped and killed by extremists in Tripura many years ago.
Of them I knew Shyamalda and Sudhamoyda very well. Shall ask the new government to find their remains if possible,” Mr Roy tweeted.
Mr Roy, a former BJP leader from West Bengal, likes to describe himself as a “right-wing Hindu socio-political thinker and writer”.
The militant group National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) was alleged to have been involved in kidnapping and murder of four senior functionaries in the state in 1999.
The RSS leadership had even blamed certain religious bodies for the kidnapping of the RSS pracharaks (whole-timer workers).
