External Affairs Ministry Thursday said that the Nuclear Cooperation Agreement, NCA between India and Japan has a specific article devoted to termination and cessation of cooperation in certain circumstances which is not new and is similar to the provision in the US Agreement.

Briefing media in New Delhi, Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said any suggestion that the termination clause in the NCA is not binding on India is factually incorrect and all clauses of the agreement are binding on both parties.

Replying to a query on China denying visa to India’s badminton team manager Bamang Tago, Mr Swarup said, this matter has been brought to Ministry’s notice. He said government’s position on differential treatment of Indian passport holders is clear and well known.

He said India has conveyed it to the Chinese side and expects them to address the issue in the spirit of reciprocity and smooth development of bilateral relations.
