India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has called upon the business tycoons of India and US to build new synergies that would bring the governments of the two countries closer.

Speaking at the 40th meeting of the US India Business council meeting in Washington today, she said that in the last one year a new sense of vigour and purpose has strengthened the bilateral relations between the two countries and the ties between the two countries have moved to a higher level of comfort and maturity.

Ms. Swaraj said the government policy has been geared to improve the ease of doing business in India.

Business between US and India is also a reflection of the larger strategic convergence between the two countries.

She said both countries have worked hard to strengthen the strategic and political convergence with concrete action on the ground.

She said the government of India has a special focus in developing 100 smart cities, rejuvenating the Ganges river and skill development among 300 million youth by 2022.

The Minister said India wants to connect its manufacturing to the global supply chains integrated with digital India.

All of these provide business opportunities at a large scale for US industry to partner with Indian public and private sector.

Speaking on the occasion, US vice President Mr. Joe Biden underlined the strong convergence of economic and strategic interest between India and US.

He spoke about the significant contribution made by Indians to the development of US especially in the field of IT.
