Normal life has been badly affected in Manipur, for the second day today following  the 48-hour statewide general strike that began from Tuesday. The general strike was called by the student wing of the Joint Committee on Inner-Line Permit System(JCILPS) in protest against the police action in controlling protesting students demanding introduction of a new bill in the state legislature to protect indigenous people of the state.

In the state capital Imphal, inter-state and inter-district vehicular services remained off the road. Educational institutions and business establishments including shops and markets remained closed. There is no report of any untoward incident during the general strike so far.
