A top militant of Lashkar e Toiba (LeT) outfit was killed in a gunfight Thursday between militants and security forces in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Police sources said that acting on a tip off about presence of militants in a local house.security force personnel cordoned off Asthan Mohalla locality of Kakapora in Pulwama district, around 30 Kms in South of Srinagar headquarters. Sources said that the militants opened fire on noticing the search party in an attempt to escape.
Rashtriya Rifles troops were also requisitioned and a local top Lashkar militant Talib Afzal Shah was killed in the encounter. The deceased militant is reported to be postgraduate with B.P.Ed degree. One or two more militants are believed to be holed up in the house. Defence spokesman said that the operation is still in progress till filing of this report.
