Senior journalist and former Deputy Editor of Radiance weekly Syed Ausaf Vasfi passed away last night in New Delhi. He was an expert in Islamic history and international affairs.
He is survived by his wife Rizwana, two sons Tausief Vasfi and Tauqeer Vasfi, daughter.
He was author of wrote several books including The Blood of The Orphan; Hindutva and minorities in India and India’s Foreign Relations And The Muslim World.

Soft spoken but always persevering in his argument, Vasfi opts for simplicity of expression to get across to the reader.Over the years, this approach to contemporary issues helped him to be taken seriously in the corridors of power. A widely-travelled man who was at the receiving of the Government’s ire during the Emergency.
Born in 1939 in Bhopal, he joined the Radiance in 1963 as a proof reader and grew in the profession over years retiring in 1996 as a Deputy Chief Editor of the magazine.
While working in the magazine he continued his study and completed Phd. Even after retirement he continued to write for the Radiance on Muslim and other issues.
He was one of the oldest members of Press Club and was accredited with PIB.
