Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat today hailed Government’s decision for the abrogation of article 370 of the Constitution, saying the article was abrogated through due parliamentary procedures. He said it shows the Government has the courage to fulfil expectations and respect people’s sentiments. He was addressing the main function of Vijayadashmi Utsav of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, RSS, in Nagpur today.

Dr. Bhagwat spoke on a host of issues from article 370 to security, economy and new education policy. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were present on this occasion.

On the issue of national security, Bhagwat underlined the importance of maintaining vigilance along the border. He also pointed out that due to tough measures by the Government, acts of terrorism within the country have declined.

Voicing his displeasure over several incidents of mob violence in the country, he said, “Lynching is not the word from Indian ethos, its origin is from a story in a separate religious text. We Indians trust in brotherhood. Don’t impose such terms on Indians.”

“Lynching itself is a western construct and one shouldn’t use it in the Indian context to defame the country,” he said.

Stressing on Constitutional Supremacy, he said society must act by remaining within the limits of the Constitution. He said RSS has never supported those who were involved in anti Constitutional and violent activities, and it stands against such incidents and provocative acts.

On the economy, the RSS Sarsanghchalak highlighted the measures taken by the Government. He also stated that FDI inflows, privatization of some industries are essential for capital formation & economic revival. He said the concept of ‘Swadeshi’ is for giving impetus to the indigenous development of products. He said Swadeshi does not mean alienation from foreign world. In fact, it can build & expand international trade relations.

On education, Dr Bhagwat underlined the need to move from infrastructural transformation to radical transformation in curriculum and teachers’ training. He criticised the attempts by vested interests to malign the image of RSS and lamented that some political leaders from Pakistan have made baseless allegations about the organization.
