We are not inflictors but healers, says Maulana after restoration of Allahwali Mosque

President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Maulana Arshad Madani has termed the riots against Muslims in India as a ploy to pushback Muslims economically, educationally, socially and politically.

He said that the worst riots in the northeast of Delhi in last February not only resulted in loss of life and property but also in the frenzy of sectarianism, miscreants desecrated many places of worship, set them on fire and chanted provocative slogans.

Maulana Madani said that Jamiat has helped the victims irrespective of their religion, and it will continue to do so.

He was speaking on the occasion of repairing and renovation of Allahwali Masjid Krawal Nagar,and handing over of houses burnt in riots to the victims.

The Allahwali Mosque in Karawal Nagar was one of the mosque which was burnt down during the riots. The miscreants not only did this but an idol was placed inside it, and a saffron flag was hanged on its minarets. Its pictures were published in all the newspapers, and also went viral on social media.

On the direction of Maulana Arshad Madani, volunteers and members of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind were helping the people irrespective of their religion during the riots, and wherever any untoward incident was reported, the people of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind would immediately reach the area by contacting the administration and senior police officials. On the special instructions of Maulana Arshad Madani, Mufti Abdul Raziq, general secretary of Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind Delhi Unit, accompanied by a delegation, rushed there with police, and cleared the mosque from idols and flags.

It is worthy to be noted that on the direction of the President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Maulana Arshad Madani, Jamiat Ulama of Delhi has been working since then to rehabilitate the victims of the Delhi riots, and it has been giving the legal aid to the innocent people who were arrested in false cases of riots.


Immediately after the riots, the relief team of Jamiat Ulama-i-Delhi became active in the affected areas to provide all kinds of necessities to the helpless people. Relief work started then, is now has completed in two phases. In the first phase, 55 houses and two mosques have been rebuilt, and houses have been handed over to the owners, and regular congregational prayers have also started in the mosques. The construction and repair of the remaining 45 houses have been completed which have been handed over to the riot victims today.

Jamiat Ulama is also trying to give legal aid to innocent arrested in false case of riot. In this regard, a legal team led by Advocate Chauhan is looking into the whole matter and so far at least 16 people have been granted bail. The President of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind has also directed the Secretary, Legal Cell, Gulzar Ahmad Azmi and Advocate Shahid Nadeem, Legal Adviser, Jamiat Legal Cell, to keep a close eye on the matter since this is a sensitive matter.
