Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today attacked Prime Minister for silence over Lalit Modi controversy and Vyapam scam. He said that PM Narendra Modi had promised a corruption-free government during election campaign and his words should carry weight. Talking to media outside Parliament, Gandhi alleged Prime Minister’s credibility is going down and he should clear the air on these issues.
Reiterating Congress stand that it will not allow Parliament to function without resignations, Mr. Gandhi said the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has committed a criminal offence in the Lalit Modi case and action should be taken against her. He said, in Vyapam scam, 40 people have died but Prime Minister is still maintaining silence. When asked about corruption charges against Congress-ruled states, Mr Gandhi said his party will take action.
