Qatar issued a decree to amend some provisions of a law on combating terrorism. Kuwait News Agency (Kuna) reported that the decree includes definitions of the words terrorist, crime and terrorist acts and entities, as well as the freezing of funds and the financing of terrorism.
It creates two national lists of individual and terrorist entities. It also identifies procedures for the listing of individuals and entities, and related implications. Under the changes, the concerned parties are also provided the right to challenge the listing decision at the Court of Cassation.
In the present Gulf dispute, Kuwait is acting as the mediator between the four Arab countries and Qatar. Last month Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt had severed diplomatic ties with Qatar on charges of terror funding and creating instability in the region. The four Arab nations have presented a list of demands to Qatar, which includes freezing of terror funds and closing of the Al Jazeera channel.
