Puducherry District Election Officer cum District Collector Shri.A. Kulothungan released the final list of contesting candidates in the General Elections to the Puducherry Parliamentary Constituency. There are 26 candidates in the field. Election symbols were also allocated to every candidate.
There are four candidates of Recognised National and State Political parties. Elephant symbol is allotted to Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Alangaravelu, Two Leaves symbol allotted to All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate G.Thamizhvendan, Lotus symbol allotted to Bharatiya Janata Party Candidate A.Namassivayam and Hand symbol allotted to Indian National Congress candidate V.Vaithilingam.
There are three candidates of Registered Political Parties other than Recognised National and State Political parties. Pot symbol allotted to Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) candidate P.Sankaran, Gas Cylinder symbol allotted to United Republican Party of India candidate K.Prabhudevan and Mike symbol allotted to Naam Tamilar Katchi candidate Dr.R Menaga.
Nineteen Independent candidates were allotted other recognised symbols.
