Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that police officers should use emerging technologies, to bring about more efficiency in their performance.

Addressing the valedictory session of three day All India conference of DGPs and IGs of the state at Dhordo in Rann of Kutch, Prime Minister said that cyber-security, digital technology and social media are the new areas which should be focused by the security forces.

Mr. Modi emphasized that sensitivity should be a vital element of policing. He stressed for flexible institutional framework to adopt sensitivity towards citizens in the police force.

He said that police forces should establish links with local communities by celebrating the successes and achievements of people.

He called for greater interaction between the police forces of neighboring districts across inter-state borders.

The Prime Minister also stressed on developing tourism policing, disaster management and police training.

The Prime Minister expressed happiness over the quality and depth of the discussions and called for a clear roadmap to implement the recommendations emerged from the Conference.
