Says India has potential to become Human Resource capital of world

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that India with its large workforce, had the potential to become the Human Resource capital of the world and the requirements of the entire world should be mapped to provide Human Resources to them. launching the Skill India campaign in New Delhi on first ever World Youth Skills Day he said structures and mechanisms need to be created to nurture youngsters, and enable them to find employment.

The Prime Minister also formally launched the National Skill Development Mission, and unveiled the National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship 2015.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojana was also rolled out on an all India basis on the occasion. Addressing the function, Mr Modi said Skill Development mission is for those students who could not continue their studies and are forced to drop out due to financial constraints.

The Prime Minister said the government has waged a war against poverty through skill development. He said it will not only help in meeting job requirements, but also create self confidence and fill them with renewed vigour. Mr Modi made a strong pitch for Industrial Training Institutes, ITIs, saying, the world accepted the IITs as good institutions. But in today’s world, the focus is ITI.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in his address said, India’s surplus manpower can be converted into a useful resource. He said Skill India will help in making hundreds of people self sufficient. Addressing the function, Minister for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, only 3.5 percent of Indian population is skilled and government has set a target to skill 40.02 crore people by 2022. He said, government has planned to establish Skill Universities in all states.
