Prime Minister has counseled students to set their own targets and work towards achieving their goals. In his Mann Ki Baat programme on All India Radio, Mr Narendra Modi asked students appearing in examinations not to buckle under pressure and expectations. Saying dedication, diligence and determination are important to achieve success, he asked the students to maintain good health by following a fixed routine and getting adequate hours of sleep.
In his nearly half an hour address, he quoted legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar where the champion sportsman asked students to set realistic targets and work hard to achieve them. Sachin stressed on adopting a positive and focused approach to beat exam stress.
Prime Minister praised chess player Vishwanathan Anand saying he always keeps his eyes fixed on the target and achieves his goal. Speaking in one segment of the programme, Vishwanathan Anand appealed to students to have good night’s sleep and calm attitude to sail through exams. Likening Chess with exams, Anand said brain recalls the right answer at the right time if the mind is calm.
Laying importance on inner peace, Mr Modi recounted his own experience how deep breathing helps him cope with day to day pressures. The Prime minister laid emphasis on Yoga and how it is the key to develop the inner mind.
Bharat Ratna CNR Rao also spoke in this episode of the Mann Ki Baat programme. He emphasised the spirit of not giving up as key to success. Mr. Rao said all that is needed is determination and tenacity.
Prime Minister gave examples of Thomas Alva Edison, the inventor of light bulb, and Harry Potter’s author J K Rowling, to drive home this message. He said, Edison had to face multiple failures before making his great invention.
Mr Modi also laid emphasis on the importance of Science and Technology, saying innovation is only possible through science. On the occasion of National Science Day today, Mr Modi lauded the efforts of Indian scientists who were part of the team that discovered Gravitational Waves. He announced that India will set up a Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory which will assist in furthering the research.
Concluding his address, Mr Modi said the General Budget, which will be presented in Parliament tomorrow, is going to be his examination. He said, nation will prosper if he and students pass their exams with flying colours.
