Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said National Cadet Corps, NCC, has always been at the forefront of adventure activities. Lauding NCC Girls Expedition Team, which successfully scaled the world’s highest peak on May 21 and 22, Mr Parrikar said in New Delhi it is an extraordinary achievement.
All ten girl cadets of the expedition team are between the age group of 17 and 21 years. Team scaled the peak after dividing the group into two parts making it a first ever successful expedition by NCC girl team. The aim of mountaineering expeditions in NCC is to strengthen the character and instill qualities of courage, comradeship, discipline and leadership among the cadets.
