A District and Sessions Court in Pakistan has extended the pre-arrest bail of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in five cases. One of the cases relates to the alleged attempted murder of former minister Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha. District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka directed the prosecution to ensure Imran Khan’s appearance at the next hearing, either in person or through video link.

The court also ordered that police should not arrest the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder in these cases until further proceedings. The hearing has been adjourned till Wednesday.

During today’s proceedings, Imran Khan was not presented before the court through video link, despite earlier directions. His lawyer was also absent. Therefore, arguments on the acquittal plea could not be made. A separate case has also been filed against Bushra Bibi for allegedly submitting forged documents. The court has also extended her pre-arrest and interim bail in the related cases.
