Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra has said in an interview to AIR, that the decision of the Central government to give land title rights to property owners in 1,731 unauthorised colonies in Delhi will benefit at least 40 lakh people. He added the land titles will be accorded within 180 days from the date of land owners submitting their applications.
DDA vice-chairman Tarun Kapoor said, they are expecting to receive applications of about 7-8 lakh property owners and a transparent process is being put in place for faster delivery of land titles. He said, this will enable people to get their properties registered. He said the process will be completed in six months.
